Often, community children are intimidated to approach a police officer or hesitant to ask them a simple question, even in the event of an emergency.
Choice Custom Cards is changing how kids and officers interact with our customized Police Trading Card Program. Our goal is to provide an open line of communication between children and officers, enabling kids to feel comfortable approaching and talking to police officers under any circumstances and creating a positive interaction.
Our Police Trading Card Program provides a great opportunity to relay a vital safety message in a format kids can enjoy and share with one another. Collecting these cards can bridge the gap between officers and children as they are a great icebreaker and open the lines of communication, allowing children to become familiar with their community officers.
The fun and attractive trading card format encourages kids to collect and trade the cards to win valuable prizes. We encourage the kids to try and collect the entire set.
While this program is fun, it also provides invaluable lessons to the kids.
Police Trading Card Do’s and Don’ts
When setting up a trading card program within your community, it is important to set down some rules to keep the kids and officers safe.
- DO encourage the kids to collect as many of the cards as they can.
- DO encourage them to trade the cards with their peers and friends.
- DO urge them to follow the critical safety tips on the back of each card.
- DO have fun!
- DON’T run into the street to follow a police car, wave to get their attention.
- DON’T approach an officer if they are busy or if they are involved in an emergency.
- DON’T forget your manners. Always say “please” and “thank you.”
Contest Rules
In order to make your Police Trading Card Program run as smoothly as possible, here are some simple rules to laydown before the event starts.
- Have the contest open to all kids in your community within a certain age bracket
- Have the children collect all of the cards to be eligible for the contest prizes.
- Set up meet and greets where kids can collect cards from the officers, ideally at local businesses, parks and restaurants.
- Select a date for the contest to start as well as an end date. Advertise it throughout the community.
- Toward the end of the contest, ask the kids to count their cards and submit their names for the prize drawing.
- Ask local merchants to contribute prizes. For doing this, they can advertise their business logos on the cards.
- In the event of a tie, a drawing will be held to determine winners.
